Dear BCCS Families and Staff:
As always, we hope you and your family are well.
On Friday evening, Governor Cuomo announced an executive order that would allow for special education services and instruction to be offered in person this summer. The Governor’s order, as written, presents two points that BCCS is currently seeking to clarify.
Firstly, the order is only in effect from June 5th to July 5th. BCCS summer sessions were slated to begin on July 6,2020 and the order, as written, would not cover our summer session. Secondly, the order states services “may be provided in person for the summer term in school districts.” As BCCS provides services for over 50 districts, it is not clear if our school settings and/or services are covered under the Governor’s June 5th order.
We have reached out to NYSED for clarification as well as for their recommended guidelines, policies and procedures. Since then, no other information has been provided.
We are actively following up and will update you as soon as more information is available. Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Marianne Klotz, Senior Director
