Dear BCCS Families and Friends,

I hope this email finds you and your families safe and well.  While we continue to adapt to a new world of social distancing and challenging news updates, I remain deeply optimistic because of you. You’ve always opened your hearts to us – and now we’ve also come together in our homes. From our kitchen tables to the sidewalks of our neighborhoods, we are learning together in real time. Our virtual classrooms and therapies bring us together in new ways, through ClassDojo, Google, Zoom, FaceTime and other platforms. Yet, the mission remains the same and the progress of our students continues.

This is due to the phenomenal teamwork of our teachers, aides, therapists, social workers, nurses, psychologists, curriculum coordinators, office staff, and administrators. They knew that there were going to be challenges before them – and they persevered. Working together, all BCCS schools developed new ways to bring meaningful learning opportunities to our students and our resource center continues to grow. It is important for us to remember that many of our team members are doing so, while caring for their own families at home. Their commitment to their students goes well beyond traditional school hours — their actions inspire us all.

For children with IEPs, annual reviews with school districts continue remotely as are ongoing meetings among school directors and staff.  Your BCCS team also continues to plan ahead and take the necessary steps to ensure we’re offering meaningful learning experiences that are accessible, tactile and joyful.  Keeping our students connected to each other is also under continued and careful consideration and we’ve hosted virtual homerooms, sing-a-long events and planned other activities.

We move forward with the health and wellness of our community, always front of mind.  Our Children’s Residential Program team share this extraordinary dedication to creating environments that promote safety, learning, and emotional well-being for the children.  The CRP staff have boundless energy and they should be commended for all they make possible for the children.

Thank you for your support and trust in us as we move forward and through this health crisis.  I send you all my best wishes for good health.

Sincerely,
